As Colombian as Gringo - Meme

 

In this meme, i wanted to challenge the superficial ways Colombian identity is often represented .While dishes like bandeja paisa are celebrated globally for their flavor, they carry deeper history shaped by race, class, and systemic inequality. Each ingredient becomes a metaphor such as beans evoke displacement, coffee points to invisible labor, and the arepa reflects regional identity. Critical race theory  reminds us that racism is not just about overt acts, but about the everyday structures that shape our experiences. Through this visual, I would like to show that being Colombian is not just about joy and tradition , it is also about navigating global systems, resisting erasure, and survive daily.
